    Work Highlights

      • Representing a prime international wealth structuring client, leading to US $65m tax saving and shaped a successful settlor rectification application.
      • Acting for a defendant on a £50m fraud / share ownership agreement and obtaining a successful settlement.
      • Acting for a claimant in a £20m joint venture agreement claim relating to a multi-million-pound commercial site and lining up ATE policies to fund the claim.
      • Acting for a claimant on an £18m shared ownership dispute and persuading the defendant to withdraw its security for costs application and pay our client’s costs. This saved our client c.£1m, being the likely cost and success payment of additional security.
      • Acting for a claimant on a £2m shareholder dispute where  two shareholders entered various building developments, but the defendant acted inequitably.  Involved breach of contract, unfair prejudice and undue influence.
      • Acting for a trust company and successfully defending against a professional negligence claim, involving a multi-million-pound inheritance tax dispute.
      • Acting for a defendant on an unjust enrichment claim on a construction dispute where invoices had purportedly been paid in error. We successfully had the claim against the directors struck out.
      • Acting for a defendant where the claimant was seeking shared ownership over a property owned by our client. We successfully had the entire claim struck out based on abuse of process.
      • Acting for a claimant challenging jurisdiction, to enable the claim to be heard in a more favourable jurisdiction.
      • Acting on an unfair prejudice claim where our client and the potential defendant were in deadlock (50% of the shares each) in ownership of the company.
      • Advising regarding termination of an ineffective shareholder and director.
      • Acting on fraud matters and obtaining worldwide freezing orders against defendants to prevent dissipation of assets.
      • Advising on potential insolvency claims, including wrongful or fraudulent trading, transactions at undervalue and misfeasance.
