RPM and British Racing Motors archive partnership

Hamlins’ Commercial and Tech team advised Racing Past Media (RPM) on its long-term partnership with British Racing Motors (BRM), one of the most iconic names in Formula One history.

RPM preserves and manages extensive motorsport archives, ensuring historic Formula 1 content remains accessible for both research and entertainment purposes.

The partnership

The partnership will support the development and commercialisation of BRM's historic archive, including the continuation of a digitisation project undertaken in partnership with Iron Mountain. The archive comprises more than 80,000 feet of film documenting the first three decades of the Formula One World Championship.

BRM raced from 1950 to 1974 with some of motorsport’s greatest drivers, including Juan Manuel Fangio, Sir Stirling Moss, Graham Hill, Sir Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda. BRM competed in 172 Grands Prix between 1950 and 1974, winning 17 races alongside the Constructors’ Championship in 1962 with Graham Hill securing the Drivers’ Championship the same year.

Hamlins advised RPM on the commercial arrangements relating to the partnership to enable the ongoing development and licensing of the archive. This content will be made available via RPM’s bespoke catalogue of the unique and market leading content.

This agreement contributes to RPM's ongoing commitment to preserve and make historic motorsport footage available for commercial use.
