Cycle the Summits

We are incredibly proud to be part of the first team attempting to Cycle the Summits to raise vital funds for the Ruth Strauss Foundation.

The Cycle the Summits challenge, which will take place in June 2021, will see our Managing Partner, Matthew Pryke alongside four team mates from the England & Wales Cricket Board and SailGP, attempt to be the first team to take on the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, cycling between and summiting the three peaks whilst on Brompton folding bikes. To make it even tougher, the team is aiming to complete the challenge, a total of 451 miles in addition to the climbs, in 72 hours.

The Ruth Strauss Foundation, set up by former England cricket captain Andrew Strauss, provides support to families facing the death of a parent from cancer, and raises awareness of the need for more research into non-smoking lung cancers. In undertaking this challenge, the Cycle the Summits team is targeting to raise £50,000 in donations for the Foundation.

Hamlins is proud to be sponsoring the challenge, and is joined by some illustrious partners including Brompton bikes, which has provided customised Red for Ruth bikes for the challenge; Garmin, which is supplying the team with all technical equipment; and Le Col, which is providing the kit.

Matthew Pryke said: “This is certainly one of the toughest challenges I’ve faced, and the training schedule is pretty gruelling! But I am thrilled to be part of this unique event and to be joining my team mates in raising money and awareness for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, an incredible charity which makes a huge difference to the families it supports.”
