Various Claimants vs. Associated Newspapers Limited

Hamlins took a lead role at the outset of the litigation against Associated Newspapers Limited (publishers of Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday), representing Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex; and Sadie Frost.

In October 2022,  we acted on behalf of Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex; and Sadie Frost, who, along with claimants Baroness Doreen Lawrence of Clarendon OBE, Sir Elton John and David Furnish and Elizabeth Hurley, launched legal action against Associated Newspapers Ltd.

This group of individuals became aware of evidence they have been the victims of criminal activity and breaches of privacy by Associated Newspapers. They banded together to uncover the truth, and to hold the journalists responsible fully accountable.

These individuals have been the subject of public interest during the course of their careers and personal lives. They are united in their desire to live in a world where the press operates freely, yet responsibly. A press that represents truth, is sourced in fact and can be trusted to operate ethically and in the interests of the British public.

In 2023, the Claimants’ legal teams successfully opposed the Defendant’s applications to strike out aspects of their claims and for summary judgment to bring the claims to an end on limitation grounds. The claims will now proceed to trial.
