John is a Partner in our Real Estate team.
John regularly advises on a variety of real estate transactions including portfolio acquisitions and disposals, refinancings and management matters, where he acts for both landlords and tenants.
He acts for a broad range of clients from international retail brands to institutional property investors to high net worth individuals. A substantial number of John’s clients are off-shore funds and private investors seeking effective advice and support in securing profitable capital investment within the UK property market.
Having previously been based in the United Arab Emirates, John is well-versed in advising clients from all backgrounds and experience levels – from seasoned investors to those whom may be may be making their first foray into UK real estate.
John’s clients operate in a variety of market sectors, including retail, hotels and leisure, healthcare and light industrial and John is known for targeting his advice to the key commercial drivers of the businesses which he supports.
John’s instructions often involve cross-jurisdictional advice and he is used to working closely and effectively with clients’ other professional advisors around the globe.

Work Highlights
- Advising the LSE-listed Palace Capital plc on lettings at Harlow to the Texas-based Exela Technology Inc group for a headline rent of £355,363 p.a. and Solaris House, Milton Keynes to the BMI Group for a headline rent of £240,000 p.a.
- Acting for a large off-shore real estate fund in re-gearing its existing long leasehold interest in a large mixed use building within Great Manchester in connection with its proposed development and sale for c.£4m.
- Acting for an overseas investor in managing its existing real estate investments in a number of prime central London locations – including the grant of new leases with a combined net income of over £1m p.a.
- Acting on the acquisition and subsequent development of vacant land in the south east into a multi-unit commercial restaurant and café site, including advising on pre-let arrangements with two major international food & drink providers at rents of c.£100,000 p.a. together with the subsequent disposal of the whole of the site to a private investor for c.£3.2m.
- Advising an overseas private investment fund on rights of light issues arising from the redevelopment of 1 Leadenhall St, London.
- Advising a private borrower in connection with the refinancing of a portfolio of residential properties in central London valued at c.£13m.
