Kate Andrews appointed Vice Chair of the Property Litigation Association
Kate Andrews, Hamlins Partner and Head of our Real Estate Disputes team has been appointed as Vice Chair of the Property Litigation Association (PLA). Kate will be supporting the PLA’s new Chair, Rebecca Campbell, a Partner in BCLP’s Real Estate Disputes team. Outgoing Chair Mark Reading will be transitioning into a new consultancy role as Immediate Past Chair for the Association.
The PLA is a 1700 strong membership organisation for property litigators working across commercial, residential and agricultural law. It provides a community for its members to access opportunities in education, training and networking, and support and resources for wellbeing. The PLA also focuses on reform to property law and the court service.
Kate has been a member of the PLA and involved in its Education & Training programme for 20 years. She was appointed to the Executive Committee and Chair of the PLA’s Education & Training Committee at the end of 2022, overseeing an annual schedule of in-person training events, seminars, talks and panel discussions and the provision of training resources for members. Kate will continue to oversee the Education & Training Committee for the next 12 months while she also serves as Vice Chair.
The Executive Committee approves all sub-committee activity, promotes member benefits and builds relationships with key stakeholders including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Property Bar Association.
Kate is widely recognised as one of London’s leading property litigators and has extensive experience in an advisory and dispute resolution role, as well as a litigious one.
Joseph Holder, Hamlins Senior Partner, said:
“This is a significant and highly regarded appointment which demonstrates Kate’s outstanding reputation amongst her peers and the contribution she has made more broadly to the UK property litigation landscape. We are very proud of Kate and congratulate her on this new role.”
Speaking about her new role as Vice Chair of the PLA, Kate said:
“It’s a real privilege to be appointed in this role, and I am looking forward to working with Rebecca Campbell in her role as Chair, and continuing the good work already achieved by Mark Reading. It’s an organisation which provides an invaluable community for its members, and I am excited to continue to contribute to enabling property litigators access to a wealth of opportunities and resources which they can benefit from. The PLA has been part of my professional life for over 20 years, and I am delighted this will continue as I take up this role.”
