Emma Brown is a Paralegal in the EMIP and Litigation department

Emma joined Hamlins in September 2017 and is gaining a wealth of experience within the media sector. Emma assists the team with reputation management and privacy claims. She also works within the media team and is involved in phone-hacking claims for which the firm are the Lead Solicitors for litigation against News Group.

Emma assisted Chris Hutchings in the first successful claim for misuse of private information and invasion of privacy against Channel 5’s television programme “Can’t Pay? We’ll Take it Away”.

Emma graduated from Southampton Solent University in 2015 with a 2:1 LLB law degree. She will be studying the LPC part time in September 2018.

Work Highlights

    • Ali and Aslam v Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited – assisted Chris Hutchings in the landmark case against Channel 5 for the misuse of private information relating to the broadcast of a couple’s eviction from their home on the television programme “Can’t Pay? We’ll Take it Away”.
    • Various v News Group Newspapers – assisting the team in their role as Lead Solicitor in the group phone-hacking litigation as well as assisting with advising Claimants on their individual claims against the News of the World and the Sun for misuse of private information by voicemail interception and other unlawful information gathering.
    • Various v Mirror Group Newspapers – assisting individual Claimants in bringing claims against the Mirror and the People newspapers for misuse of private information by voicemail interception and other unlawful information gathering.
